"Scalable tech is key to solving the world’s most pressing problems."
The Norrsken Foundation created the Impact100 annual list of the world’s most promising impact startups. In various reporting, such as by TechCrunch, the list has been referred to as "the Nobel Prize for Impact". Nominations were sourced from actors including the Obama Foundation, UNDP, Acumen and Summa Equity, united to gather the best solutions to solve the world's greatest challenges.
As reported by Sifted, 36 European startups are on the list. In the global top, alongside companies like SpaceX, 15 climate tech companies made it. One of them is ClimateView.
"Look mum, we made it!"
Norrsken wanted to spotlight these 100 ideas. To do so, they chose the Times Square. In partnership with Nasdaq, all the listed companies ran in the New York City plaza.
The rationale for the Times Square stunt, is that "the world needs better role models."
The Impact100 selection criteria were based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It is published without ranking, but the Norrsken Foundation will announce two winners in September in Stockholm with a ceremony hosted by His Royal Highness Prince Daniel of Sweden. One startup valued above $1bn, and one below will be announced.
