Led by the Ruhr Regional Association, this initiative promotes transparency, economic resilience, and citizen-centric planning across 53 municipalities and 5 million inhabitants, signalling a transformative shift.

Dundee commits to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030 and achieving net-zero by 2045, in alignment with Scotland’s national targets. The city adopted ClimateView to dynamically update its climate action plan with new data. This approach enables continuous monitoring and refinement of strategies, particularly addressing energy efficiency concerns.

Cincinnati targets carbon neutrality by 2050, pioneering ClimateView's platform in the United States. The data insights aids in the context of federal funding, such as the Inflation Reduction Act, and increasing climate ambition through community engagement, resulting in an updated goal of 100% emissions reductions.

Panorama – Panorama is an open access platform for visualizing Sweden’s climate transition that builds upon official data and public information. It has been developed in collaboration between ClimateView and the Swedish Climate Policy Council, the Swedish Energy Agency and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. These three public authorities are all involved in the work of reaching the Swedish climate goal of zero net by 2045 and Panorama is a platform for strengthening the climate transition knowledge and engagement in Sweden.

Mannheim plans to close its coal power plant by 2033, shifting to renewable energy and creating green jobs. ClimateView's platform tracks climate initiatives, facilitating adjustments based on performance data and supporting decision-making by consolidating sector-specific data for emissions reduction opportunities.

Nottingham has set a goal to become the UK's first carbon-neutral city by 2028, and since 2005, it has reduced its per capita emissions by 52%. The city uses the platform to monitor its emissions and other data in real time and improve its strategy iteratively. The platform helps city officials to revise targets based on new information and coordinate decarbonisation efforts across different sectors like transport and buildings.

Governance

Dortmund, once a stronghold of the mining and steel industry, aims for net zero by 2035. Using the platform, the city has created a climate action plan focused on mobility, housing and the economy. Coordinated across sectors, teams and departments, the platform allows for ongoing assessment and iteration of interventions, supporting decision-makers. Dortmund also makes its data and findings publicly accessible - to contribute to wider understanding of climate solutions.

Malmö aims for net-zero emissions by 2030, transitioning from its industrial past to prioritize climate action. ClimateView's platform helps organize and track climate data, engaging citizens and climate activists in identifying areas for improvement, assessing action effectiveness, and securing funding for green initiatives.

Engagement

UK’s city Bristol has recently established a £1 billion public-partnership to decarbonize the city, and pilots a Net Zero Investment Co-innovation Lab with €1.5 million in funding from the EU. Bristol City Council representatives emphasise the importance of private investment, data-driven decision-making, and the visual dynamic nature of ClimateView's platform in supporting Bristol's decarbonization journey.
